Bolt hadn't been well for a while, she wasn't eating much. So I think it was just old age. She fell asleep in the hammock with one of her sisters Dusty.
We first called her Bolt, because when we first got her she used to bolt around the cage like a little nutter. She had what looked like a lightening bolt on her berkshire belly, so Bolt had to be the perfect name for her.
This is a pictire of Bolt when we first got her
Bolt was a lovely black berkshire with top ears. She had black hands and feet, with white toes. She looked super cute.
Bolt enjoying her 1st birthday, with her sister Sox
Bolt was always the shy rat, whenever anyone would be in the room, bolt would be in the hammock hiding.
Bolt being adventurous, coming out of the cage
Christmas 2013 Bolt enjoying her presents
When one of her sisters Sox died, Bolt started to come out of her shell, it was as though a part of Sox was still with us
Bolt with the girls
Bolt liked our new addition to the rat room, the rat ramp. She could get up to the cage whenever she wanted to
When Bolt was around 18 months old, we noticed a small lump on her belly, it seemed as though she had swallowed a peanut, about a month later it had disapeared, never to be seen again. So I always said she had swallowed a whole peanut, just to scare us. Little monkey!

Bolt wanting to know what all the fuss is about Christmas 2014
Bolts favourite food was the egg mixture we make up, if one of the other rats were ill, she would always end up eating most of it.
She enjoyed her 2nd Birthday hammock
Have fun at rainbow bridge Bolty, sorry we weren't with you to say goodbye. You will meet up with your sisters and all of our other ratties. You will be healthy again now, with no nasty lumps. We will miss your soft jet black furr. Sleep tight little berk xXx
